WIU Offers Exclusive AFNR And AgX Training for Illinois Teachers

WIU Offers Exclusive AFNR And AgX Training for Illinois Teachers

By Andi Anderson

Western Illinois University is offering two special professional development opportunities for Illinois agriculture teachers through its Case Institutes partnership.

These programs are designed to strengthen teaching skills, improve classroom instruction, and support career readiness for students interested in agriculture-related careers.

The two programs available are the AFNR Training and the AgX Training. Both events are private and are open only to current Illinois agriculture teachers.

Each program is offered at a reduced registration cost to encourage participation and ensure high-quality professional learning.

The AFNR Training will be held from June 1 through June 5. This five-day institute focuses on agriculture, food, and natural resources education. Participants will pay a discounted registration fee of $200. Although the full price may appear on registration listings, Illinois teachers will only be charged the reduced amount.

The AgX Training will take place on May 30 and May 31. This two-day institute emphasizes modern agriculture systems, innovation, and career pathways. The discounted registration cost for this program is $100 per participant.

Optional dorm lodging is available on the Western Illinois University campus. The cost for lodging is $36.20 per night, which includes breakfast. Teachers may also choose to stay at nearby hotels in the Macomb area if preferred.

Enrollment for both programs is limited to 24 participants per event. Registration will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. This limited capacity ensures that participants receive focused instruction, hands-on learning, and meaningful interaction with program leaders.

Teachers who are interested in participating are encouraged to register early to secure a spot. These programs provide valuable learning experiences that help educators stay current with agricultural practices, technology, and teaching strategies.

For questions or additional information, participants may contact the program host, Dusti Ingles, at d-ingles@wiu.edu.

Overall, the AFNR and AgX trainings at Western Illinois University offer an excellent opportunity for agriculture teachers to enhance their professional skills, connect with peers, and gain practical knowledge that can be shared with students in classrooms across Illinois.
