Stronger Corn Hybrids Hit Central Belt

Stronger Corn Hybrids Hit Central Belt

By Andi Anderson

Wyffels Hybrids has announced the release of a new class of corn hybrids for the upcoming season, designed to provide farmers with better performance, consistency, and options across the Central Corn Belt.

This lineup brings together advanced trait packages, conventional choices, and proven yield results to meet the diverse needs of modern agriculture.

The new class includes:

  • Five PowerCore Enlist hybrids and one Trecepta hybrid for above-ground insect protection.
  • Two SmartStax PRO and three VT4PRO hybrids offering both above- and below-ground protection.
  • Five Non-GMO hybrids for farmers seeking conventional seed options.

Dr. Shane Meis, Director of Research at Wyffels, explained that the company’s independence and regional focus allow it to concentrate on the unique challenges and opportunities of the Central Corn Belt.

“That narrow focus, combined with our partnerships with multiple technology providers, means our lineup delivers both diversity and a strong local fit,” he said.

Before reaching farmers’ fields, every hybrid undergoes rigorous testing across an extensive network of locations. According to John Wyffels, President of Wyffels Hybrids, only the strongest products make it to market.

“We don’t release a hybrid unless it’s proven to outperform our current offerings, and this new class includes some of the strongest yield performers we’ve ever seen,” he noted.

By combining insect protection traits, non-GMO alternatives, and proven yield advantages, Wyffels aims to give farmers the tools they need to increase productivity and profitability.

The company’s focus on the Central Corn Belt ensures that each hybrid is matched to the specific growing conditions of the region, supporting long-term success in an evolving farming landscape.
