Register for 2024 Certified Livestock Manager Training

By Andi Anderson

The University of Illinois Extension, in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Agriculture, is launching the 2024 Certified Livestock Manager Training Workshops on January 30. These workshops, held at seven locations throughout the state, fulfill the training requirements outlined in the Illinois Livestock Management Facilities Act.

To attend an in-person workshop, pre-registration is mandatory due to limited space. For detailed information and registration, visit go.illinois.edu/CLMT. The workshop schedule includes sessions from January 30 to February 8 in various cities, covering crucial topics related to livestock waste management and environmental stewardship.

Each workshop opens at 8:30 a.m., with training starting at 9 a.m., lasting for 3.5 hours. The training fee is $40, and the Illinois Department of Agriculture's certification fee is $30.

The workshops cover a range of essential topics, including the latest regulations, best management practices, and research on manure-related issues. Attendees will use the "Livestock and Poultry Environmental Stewardship Curriculum" manual, available at go.illinois.edu/manual.

Facilities with 300 or more animal units are required to have at least one certified employee in environmentally aware manure management. The workshops and exams are essential for compliance.

For those unable to attend in person, online training and testing are available year-round, offering flexibility for participants. To register and stay updated on weather-related information,  visit go.illinois.edu/CLMT
