Sangamon County, Illinois, is set to see an increase in solar energy production with the proposal of two new solar farms. The solar farms are expected to generate up to 400 megawatts of energy and are planned to be built in the next few years.
The proposed solar farms will be constructed by California-based company 8minute Solar Energy. The company has already secured land leases for the two solar farms, one of which will be located in Glenarm and the other in Pawnee.
The construction of the solar farms will provide an economic boost to the area, creating jobs and bringing in investment. Furthermore, the renewable energy generated by the solar farms will provide clean energy to the local grid, reducing carbon emissions and contributing to Illinois' goal of a carbon-free energy sector by 2050.
The project has already received support from local government officials, who recognize the benefits of renewable energy for the local economy and environment. With the proposed solar farms, Sangamon County is set to become a hub for renewable energy production in the region.
