Farmers from Marion and Clinton Counties recently gathered for an important roundtable discussion with U.S. Representative Mike Bost, focusing on key issues that continue to shape agriculture in Illinois and across the nation.

The meeting, hosted at Walsh Farms and Trucking, drew more than 50 local farmers who shared their views on pressing challenges and opportunities.

The discussion covered trade, the farm economy, and the estate tax, often referred to as the “death tax.” A major focus was the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a policy effort designed to strengthen farm programs and provide support to rural communities.

Representative Bost emphasized his commitment to keeping farmers’ voices at the forefront of policy decisions in Washington, D.C. He highlighted how farm families are deeply affected by federal legislation and assured the group that he is working to protect their interests.

Farm Bureau leaders from Marion and Clinton Counties thanked Walsh Farms and Trucking for hosting the gathering and expressed their gratitude to Rep. Bost for his ongoing support. They underscored the importance of open conversations between policymakers and farmers to ensure that agricultural needs are recognized.

“Rep. Bost’s consistent support of agriculture and farm families through the One Big Beautiful Bill is deeply appreciated,” said Farm Bureau representatives during the meeting.

By directly engaging with farmers in his district, Rep. Bost reaffirmed the value of strong collaboration between lawmakers and the agricultural community. The event showcased how local voices contribute to shaping policies that safeguard the future of farming, strengthen the farm economy, and ensure a thriving agricultural sector for generations to come.
