Illinois celebrated a milestone in 2025 as the Illinois State Fair and Du Quoin State Fair together drew more than one million visitors. Governor JB Pritzker announced the results, calling the fairs a time-honored tradition that highlights the state’s strong agricultural roots.
Springfield welcomed 723,079 guests, marking the second-largest turnout in its history. Du Quoin set a new record with 282,202 attendees, surpassing its previous best of 204,004 in 2024.
Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Jerry Costello II praised the fairs for bringing people together while preserving traditions and introducing fresh attractions.
Grandstand ticket sales in Springfield climbed, boosted by record crowds and popular acts. The Megan Moroney concert set a new Grandstand attendance record with 15,532 tickets sold, breaking the mark set by Lil Wayne in 2024.
Admission booklets, Mega and Jumbo passes, and camping permits also saw strong gains. The Governor’s Sale of Champions featured impressive prices, including $105,000 for the Grand Champion Steer and a record $70,000 for the Land of Lincoln Grand Champion Steer. Total commodities and livestock sales approached $294,000.
Du Quoin’s fair also thrived with an exciting lineup featuring Little River Band, TESLA, and Tucker Wetmore. The carnival reported 245,000 rides, while the popular Mardi Gras Glass House and Giant Wheel drew large crowds.
Camping demand surged with 625 permits issued. The Illinois Product Expo, which began in 2022, earned more than $25,000 in sales, a $5,000 increase from last year.
A recent International Association of Fairs and Expos study highlighted a $2.7 billion regional economic impact from fairs in the Midwest. Nearly 29% of Americans attend a fair each year, surpassing Major League Baseball and NFL combined attendance.
Looking ahead, the Illinois State Fair will return August 13–23, 2026, followed by the Du Quoin State Fair from August 28–September 7, continuing a proud celebration of food, fun, and agriculture.
