The Illinois Pork Producers Association is inviting applications for its 2026–2027 Future Leaders of Illinois Pork program. This two year initiative is designed to encourage young people to become active and knowledgeable leaders in the pork industry while gaining valuable commercial production experience.
Participants selected for the program will take part in four meetings during the first year. These sessions will focus on the fundamentals of modern pork production, industry challenges, and opportunities for leadership at the state and national levels.
The program also includes a special highlight: a legislative fly in to Washington D. C. with the National Pork Producers Council. This trip offers a unique chance to meet with federal lawmakers, observe national policy discussions, and understand how legislation impacts pork producers across the country.
The association encourages anyone who knows a motivated young adult with an interest in agriculture to share this opportunity.
Ideal candidates are individuals eager to learn, develop leadership skills, and contribute to the future of the pork industry. Detailed information, including candidate requirements and tentative meeting dates, is available on the association’s website.
Questions about the program can be directed to program coordinator Jennifer Tirey at jennifer@ilpork.com. Interested applicants are urged to complete the application form provided online and submit it before the deadline.
By joining the Future Leaders of Illinois Pork program, participants will gain hands on knowledge of commercial pork production, learn from experienced professionals, and build valuable connections that can shape a successful career in agriculture.
This program not only strengthens individual skills but also supports the long term growth and sustainability of the Illinois pork industry by preparing a new generation of dedicated leaders.
