IL Corn Growers Support Year Round E15 Sales Expansion Bill

IL Corn Growers Support Year Round E15 Sales Expansion Bill

By Andi Anderson

The IL Corn Growers Association (ICGA) welcomes the bipartisan effort to expand year-round E15 sales through the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2025.

The bill, led by Senators Tammy Duckworth and Deb Fischer in the Senate and Representatives Adrian Smith and Angie Craig in the House, aims to extend the Reid vapor pressure (RVP) volatility waiver, ensuring nationwide E15 availability.

ICGA expresses gratitude to additional cosponsors, including Senator Dick Durbin and Representatives Nikki Budzinski, Mike Bost, Mary Miller, Darin LaHood, Eric Sorensen, and Robin Kelly, for their commitment to supporting American corn farmers.

The bill was reintroduced after nearly passing during the previous session, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen ethanol markets.

Garrett Hawkins, President of ICGA, highlighted the significance of this step, acknowledging Illinois legislators' leadership in pushing forward policies that benefit farmers.

However, he also expressed disappointment that E15 expansion was not included in the 2024 Continuing Resolution. Hawkins emphasized that expanding ethanol markets is essential to providing stability and economic growth for farmers.

Stronger ethanol demand directly benefits corn farmers by increasing corn prices and creating new market opportunities. ICGA continues to advocate for policy advancements that enhance market access, ensuring long-term growth and financial security for the agricultural community.

With bipartisan support, the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2025 represents progress toward securing a stable and expanding ethanol market, ultimately benefiting corn farmers and the broader agricultural economy.
