Be the Voice of Illinois Farmers

The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) is calling for candidates to fill a vacant director seat on its board for District 18.

This district covers 11 counties in southern Illinois, including Franklin, Hamilton, Williamson, Saline, Gallatin, Union, Johnson, Pope, Hardin, Alexander, Pulaski, and Massac.

The ISA board plays a vital role in representing soybean producers across the state. It consists of 18 district directors and six at-large directors. Each board member serves a three-year term and may serve up to three terms in total.

Eligibility requirements are clear and ensure that only active soybean producers can serve. Candidates must be Illinois residents of legal voting age and must be producers of soybeans in the state subject to the checkoff assessment in the district where they are elected.

They must also hold the first right of ownership in soybeans for which payment is received and maintain this eligibility throughout their service.

Board service provides an opportunity to help guide ISA’s efforts on behalf of soybean producers, though the level of time commitment depends on the responsibilities each director takes on. Leadership positions and representation duties may require additional involvement.

The election for this District 18 seat will take place during ISA’s Fall Board of Directors Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, 2025, in Bloomington, Illinois. Interested candidates can access the application and more details through ISA.

Questions or requests for additional information may be directed to ISA’s Director of Operations, Dustin Scott, at dustin.scott@ilsoy.org or by phone at 309-846-3673.

This opening offers a unique chance for soybean farmers in southern Illinois to take on a leadership role and contribute to shaping the future of the state’s soybean industry.
