The 18th Annual Illinois Product Farmers Market begins on Thursday, May 15, at The Shed on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. Open from 3:30 to 7 p.m., the market will run every Thursday through September, except on June 19 and the two Thursdays during the Illinois State Fair. A special Fall Market will take place on October 11.
This event is organized by the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) and supported by local organizations. It brings together local farmers, businesses, and families to celebrate fresh, locally made products in a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of food options, including barbecue from Nuthatch Hill BBQ, pizza from Leo’s Pizza on Wheels, and sweet mini donuts from Johnnie O’s. There will also be face painting, balloon artists, and yard games for kids. Guests can interact with animals from the Henson Robinson Zoo and Springfield Park District.
Live music will be performed by the band Not Petty, and attendees can win special prizes during several scheduled drawings. Free reusable bags and exclusive Illinois Product Market items like hats and cups will be available while supplies last.
The market also features a Buy Local Prize Wheel where participants can win items from local businesses and an AARP Illinois Product Basket filled with vendor goodies. Each week includes raffles for $10 “Market Cash.”
Shoppers using LINK benefits can receive matching dollars up to $25 to purchase fruits and vegetables.
To visit the market, guests should enter Gate 3 and park across the street. Vendors interested in joining the market can contact agr.farmersmarket@illinois.gov.
