The Pork Power Program is continuing its mission to fight hunger across Illinois through a major food donation effort. As part of the Pork Power: Partnering to Fight Hunger in Illinois campaign, several leading agricultural organizations are working together to provide nutritious food to families facing food insecurity.
In 2026, the program will donate more than 101,000 pounds of ground pork to eight regional food banks across the state. The initiative highlights the commitment of Illinois farmers and agricultural groups to supporting local communities while ensuring access to high-quality sources of protein.
The collaborative effort includes the Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA), Feeding Illinois, the Illinois Corn Marketing Board, the Illinois Meat Processors Association, and the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) checkoff programs. Together, these organizations are investing in hunger-relief efforts that can make a meaningful difference for thousands of families.
One of the regional food banks participating in the program is the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, located in Urbana, Illinois. Through the distribution network of regional food banks, the donated pork will help supply nutritious meals to individuals and families in need throughout various communities.
The donation campaign demonstrates how different sectors of Illinois agriculture can work together toward a common goal. By combining resources and expertise, these organizations are helping address the growing demand for food assistance while promoting the value of locally produced agricultural products.
Providing protein-rich food is especially important because it contributes to balanced and healthy meals. The ground pork donations will offer food banks an additional source of nutritious protein that can be distributed through their hunger-relief programs.
The Pork Power Program also showcases the strong connection between farmers, food producers, processors, and community organizations. Their partnership reflects a shared commitment to caring for neighbors and supporting families during challenging times.
As food banks continue serving increasing numbers of people, contributions such as these play a vital role in meeting community needs. The donation of more than 101,000 pounds of pork represents a significant investment in hunger relief and community well-being.
Through this statewide effort, Illinois agricultural organizations are helping ensure that more families have access to nutritious meals while reinforcing the agricultural community’s dedication to fighting hunger and making a positive impact across the state.
