Clinton County Opens Registration for 2026 Summer Ag Institute

By Andi Anderson

Registration is now open for the 2026 Clinton County Summer Ag Institute, a two‑day professional development program designed for teachers of all grade levels.

The event will take place on June 9 and 10 and aims to help educators bring agriculture into their classroom instruction through hands‑on learning experiences.

The Summer Ag Institute introduces teachers to a wide range of agriculture‑based activities that can easily fit into subjects such as math, science, English language arts, and social studies.

Participants will learn directly from agricultural experts and hear from guest speakers representing various Illinois commodity groups. The program is structured to give teachers both practical ideas and deeper insight into the importance of agriculture in everyday life.

Illinois Ag in the Classroom staff will present new, standards‑aligned lessons that help teachers connect agriculture to required learning benchmarks. These lessons are designed to be easily implemented and adaptable for multiple grade levels.

Educators will also have the opportunity to visit local farms and agricultural businesses, gaining a firsthand look at modern agriculture and the work involved in food production.

In addition to educational sessions, teachers will enjoy opportunities for collaboration, access to free classroom resources, and meals during the program.

Each participant will earn 16 continuing education credits, and full attendance on both days is required to receive credit.

The program is limited to the first 12 registrants. The $65 registration fee includes lunch for one day, take‑home materials, and additional classroom resources. Payment must be submitted by May 1 to secure a spot.

If a school is responsible for payment, it must also meet the same deadline. Any unpaid registrations after May 1 will be removed and offered to individuals on the waitlist.

Teachers may register online through the Clinton County Farm Bureau website or by scanning the QR code provided on promotional materials.

For more information, educators may contact Susan Kleiboeker, the Clinton County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom Coordinator, at 618‑526‑7235.

The Summer Ag Institute continues to provide valuable support for educators who wish to bring agriculture into the classroom, helping students understand the importance of the industry and its role in daily life.
