Local Youth Showcase Skills at Fair

By Andi Anderson

The Edgar County 4-H Fair is scheduled to take place from July 16 to July 22, 2026, at the Edgar County 4-H Fairgrounds, located at 319 E. Elliott Street, Paris, Illinois. The annual event is expected to attract young participants, agricultural enthusiasts, families, and local residents from across the county.

The fair serves as an important platform for 4-H members to showcase the skills and knowledge they have developed throughout the year. Participants will have the opportunity to present livestock projects, display exhibits, and take part in various educational and competitive activities that highlight the importance of agriculture and youth development.

Livestock exhibitions are expected to remain one of the major attractions of the fair. Young exhibitors will demonstrate their abilities in raising and caring for animals while learning valuable lessons about responsibility, dedication, and animal husbandry. These experiences help participants build practical agricultural knowledge that can benefit them in the future.

In addition to livestock events, the fair will feature a variety of project displays, contests, and learning opportunities. Youth members often present projects related to science, technology, arts, nutrition, gardening, and community service. These activities encourage creativity, innovation, and personal growth among participants.

The event also provides an opportunity for families and community members to connect with local agriculture. Visitors can learn more about farming practices, agricultural production, and the role agriculture plays in supporting communities and economies. Such educational experiences help strengthen the relationship between consumers and the agricultural sector.

Beyond competitions and exhibits, the fair promotes leadership, teamwork, communication, and confidence among young people. Through participation in 4-H programs, youth gain valuable life skills that prepare them for future academic, professional, and community leadership roles.

The Edgar County 4-H Fair continues to be a respected tradition that celebrates agriculture, education, and community involvement. By bringing together young leaders, families, volunteers, and agricultural supporters, the event highlights the positive impact of 4-H programs and their contribution to rural and local communities.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend the fair and support the achievements of local youth while enjoying a week dedicated to learning, agriculture, and community spirit.
