Illinois Farmers Get Just Over 1 Day Suitable for Fieldwork



There were 1.3 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois during the week ending Sunday.

Statewide, the average temperature was 49.1 degrees, 2.9 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.97 inches, 0.08 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 3 percent short, 40 percent adequate, and 56 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent very short, 5 percent short, 54 percent adequate, and 39 percent surplus.

Winter wheat headed was 4 percent, even with the 5-year average. Winter wheat condition was rated 10 percent poor, 45 percent fair, 35 percent good, and 10 percent excellent.
