The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) and over 20 state agriculture departments celebrated National Agriculture Trade Day on March 19, recognizing the essential role of trade in supporting farmers and growing the economy.
Agricultural exports create opportunities for farmers and strengthen U.S. agriculture’s global presence. "Today, we recognize the vital role of international trade in bolstering the American economy and expanding trade opportunities for local food producers," said NASDA CEO Ted McKinney.
"By connecting U.S. agriculture with new global marketplaces, we create long-term growth and greater opportunities for farmers and ranchers across the country."
As part of National Ag Week, this celebration raises awareness of trade’s impact on rural development. In 2023, agriculture, food, and related industries contributed 5.5% of the U.S. GDP and accounted for 10.4% of national employment. Expanding market opportunities ensuring a stable future for food producers.
NASDA continues to advocate for policies that promote agricultural exports and strengthen U.S. trade relations. Supporting trade-friendly policies allows farmers to reach new markets and maintain economic stability.
