The Illinois State Fair is thrilled to announce that the two-time GRAMMY award-winning band The Smashing Pumpkins will headline the Grandstand on Friday, August 16th, with opening act PVRIS in Springfield.
Since their formation in Chicago in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins have been a defining force in alternative music, selling over 30 million albums worldwide and earning multiple awards, including two GRAMMYs and two MTV VMAs. Their influential catalog boasts iconic albums like "Siamese Dream" and "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness," recognized by Rolling Stone as among the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time."
In 2018, The Smashing Pumpkins embarked on the immensely successful Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour, followed by the release of their eleventh album, "CYR," in 2020. Continuing their prolific career, the band released "ATUM" in 2023, with new music in the works.
"We're thrilled to bring The Smashing Pumpkins back home to Illinois," said Illinois State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark. "Their unique sound and evolution over the years promise an unforgettable show."
Joining The Smashing Pumpkins on stage is PVRIS, known for their genre-defying music and hits like "Animal" and "Anywhere But Here."
