Matchbox Twenty Set for Illinois State Fair Grandstand August 16

Matchbox Twenty will bring its well-known pop rock sound to the Illinois Lottery Grandstand Stage at the Illinois State Fair on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Springfield, Illinois.

The concert is expected to attract music fans of all ages and add strong entertainment value to the annual fair.

The band is known for creating songs that have remained popular for decades. Hits such as “3AM,” “Push,” “Unwell,” “Bent,” “If You’re Gone,” and “She’s So Mean,” helped the group reach listeners across different generations. Their music has been played widely on radio television and streaming platforms around the world.

Over the years Matchbox Twenty has sold more than 40 million records globally. The band has also received multiple GRAMMY Award nominations and has performed sold out shows in arenas, amphitheaters and stadiums worldwide.

Their albums include the highly successful “Yourself” or “Someone Like You”, “Mad Season”, “More Than You Think You Are” and “North” which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

“Matchbox Twenty is one of the most recognizable names in pop rock, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the Illinois State Fair,” said Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Jerry Costello II. “It’s a great fit for the diverse music fans who come to the Illinois State Fair.”

The group recently released “Where The Light Goes”, their first album in eleven years. The album continues their tradition of honest storytelling and relatable themes that connect strongly with audiences.

“Matchbox Twenty brings an incredible energy and a catalog of songs that instantly resonates with audiences,” said Illinois State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark. “This show will be a can’t-miss moment for fairgoers who grew up with their music and for a whole new generation discovering it.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, February 13 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Ticket prices range from $75 to $ 150 depending on seating level. A $30 preshow party ticket will also be available as an optional upgrade.

The 2026 Illinois State Fair will run from August 13 through August 23 in Springfield. Visitors are encouraged to follow official social media channels for the latest updates and announcements.
