Growmark Gains Full Ownership of Imperial Valley Terminal

Growmark Gains Full Ownership of Imperial Valley Terminal

By Andi Anderson

Growmark, Inc. has announced the acquisition of full ownership of Imperial Valley Terminal, a major grain terminal located along the Illinois River in Havana, Illinois. The facility, commonly known as CHS Havana, was previously jointly owned by Growmark and CHS for several years. The move marks an important step in strengthening Growmark's grain handling and transportation network across the region.

Following the acquisition, Lakeside Grain Trading LLC will oversee the terminal's grain operations. At the same time, Sunrise FS will continue managing the facility's agronomy and energy-related assets. Both companies are wholly owned subsidiaries of Growmark, ensuring a smooth transition and coordinated management of terminal activities.

Imperial Valley Terminal plays a significant role in the agricultural supply chain. The facility serves as an important delivery point for farmers and commercial grain companies, helping move grain efficiently to export markets. It also supports the import of crop nutrients, which are essential for agricultural production. Its strategic location along the Illinois River provides strong transportation advantages and connects agricultural products to domestic and international buyers.

By securing complete ownership of the terminal, Growmark plans to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency. The company also intends to expand the high-volume facility to meet increasing customer demand and provide enhanced services for growers and grain marketers. Improved management and operational control are expected to strengthen logistics capabilities while supporting future growth opportunities.

Joe Kapraun, Executive Director of Grain Business for Growmark, highlighted the importance of the acquisition and its benefits for customers and member-owners. He said, "Full ownership of Imperial Valley Terminal strengthens Growmark's grain network and creates additional value for our member-owners. It also positions us to expand opportunities for customers throughout the region."

The acquisition reflects Growmark's commitment to investing in agricultural infrastructure and supporting efficient grain movement throughout the Midwest. Strong transportation and storage facilities remain essential as farmers seek reliable access to markets and competitive grain marketing opportunities.

Customers seeking grain merchandising, transportation, or logistics services can contact Lakeside Grain Trading directly for assistance. With full ownership now in place, Growmark is positioned to further develop the terminal, strengthen customer relationships, and support the long-term growth of regional agriculture while improving access to export and supply chain opportunities.
