Golden Owl Award Nominations Open for Illinois Agriculture Teachers

Golden Owl Award Nominations Open for Illinois Agriculture Teachers

By Andi Anderson

The Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers, in partnership with Nationwide, Illinois Association FFA, Farm Credit Illinois, and Compeer Financial, has announced that nominations for the Golden Owl Award are now open.

This special award recognizes agricultural educators who dedicate countless hours and resources to shaping the future of their students.

Teachers in this field not only educate in the classroom but also inspire leadership, career growth, and lifelong skills for young learners across Illinois.

Through the Golden Owl Award, students, fellow educators, and community members can nominate an agricultural teacher who has made a lasting impact. Each nominee is considered for the honor of being named their state’s Agricultural Educator of the Year.

Award prizes include $500 and an engraved plaque for each honoree, with one state grand prize winner receiving $3,000 and the prestigious Golden Owl Award trophy. This recognition highlights the importance of teachers who work tirelessly to support agricultural education.

In addition to these individual honors, Nationwide is donating $5,000 to each participating state. These funds will further strengthen the personal and professional development of both students and educators involved in agricultural programs.

Nominations for Illinois agricultural educators opened on September 1 and will remain available until November 15. Community members are encouraged to take part by recognizing the teachers who are shaping the next generation of leaders in agriculture.

The Golden Owl Award continues to serve as a meaningful reminder of the dedication of agricultural educators and the vital role they play in schools and communities across the state.
