Celebrating top young farmers and programs

The achievements of young farmers and agricultural leaders were celebrated at the Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Chicago, where an enthusiastic audience recognized their dedication and hard work. The 2024 Young Leader Awards Program highlighted the contributions of Young Leaders and county Farm Bureaus through their community initiatives and member engagement efforts.

Young Leader Achievement Award
This award honours Young Leaders for their exceptional accomplishments on the farm and in leadership roles. Ethan and Katie Brown from Montgomery County were recognized for their outstanding efforts.

Excellence in Agriculture Award
Sadie Asher from Henry County received this award for her active involvement and contributions to the Farm Bureau and the broader agricultural industry.

Outstanding Young Leader Programs
These awards celebrate county Farm Bureau programs that develop young members into future leaders. Recognized programs included:

  • Edwards County: 4-H and Young Leader Cemetery Clean-Up
  • Wayne County: Howl at the Moon Fundraiser
  • Christian County: Ag Safety Day
  • Rock Island County: Pedal Tractor Pull
  • St. Clair County: Family Fun Day

Top County Young Leader Chairs
This award acknowledges county chairs who excel in leadership and motivate others to engage in Farm Bureau activities. Winners also receive a trip to the American Farm Bureau FUSION Conference in Denver.

  • Michael Browning, Franklin County
  • Justin Allaman, Warren-Henderson County
  • Alison Gibbs, Woodford County
  • R.J. Nugent, Will County

Friend of Young Leaders Award
This award is given to individuals who positively impact Young Leader programs. Winners included Gail Nettles (nominated by Woodford County), Rich DeSchepper (nominated by Knox County), and Dale Kestel (nominated by Will County).

FB ACT Recognition
This program rewards Young Leaders who respond to legislative action requests. Winners received trips to leadership conferences. Recognized individuals included Nowell Moore (Woodford County) and others from Knox, Pike-Scott, and Ogle counties.

These awards celebrate the vital contributions of young leaders to the agricultural industry, showcasing their dedication to farming, leadership, and community development.
