Get ready for some pumpkin-smashing fun! The University of Illinois Extension, in partnership with the Town of Normal and the Illinois State University Department of Agriculture, is hosting the Annual Pumpkin Smash event on Saturday, November 4th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rader Family Farms.
This event offers a unique and environmentally friendly way to dispose of your pumpkins. Whether your pumpkins are carved, whole, or even painted with water-based paints, you can bring them along for disposal. However, please make sure your pumpkins are free of candles, stickers, glitter, or any synthetic and non-compostable materials.
Organizers are aiming to collect nearly 1,000 pounds of pumpkins during the event. These pumpkins will be transported to the University Farm for composting, contributing to sustainable practices in our community.
In addition to pumpkin disposal, Rader Family Farms will have concessions and restrooms open for attendees to enjoy during this post-season event.
Join for a day of eco-friendly pumpkin disposal, community engagement, and fun. Let's make this year's Pumpkin Smash a memorable and sustainable experience!
