75 Percent of Illinois Wheat Rates Good to Excellent



Statewide, the average Illinois temperature was 39.6 degrees, 9.8 degrees above normal for the month of December, according to USDA's National Ag Statistics Service.

Precipitation averaged 2.69 inches, 0.01 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent very short, 15 percent short, 53 percent adequate, and 30 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 5 percent very short, 11 percent short, 63 percent adequate, and 21 percent surplus.

Winter wheat condition was 3 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 15 percent fair, 67 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.
