Illinois Corn Planted at 73 Percent, Soybeans at 49

There were 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sunday. Statewide, the average temperature was 71.8 degrees, 2.6 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.77 inches, 0.13 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 4 percent short, 54 percent adequate, and 42 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent short, 50 percent adequate, and 48 percent surplus.

Corn planted was at 73 percent, compared to 100 percent for both last year and 5-year average. Corn emerged was at 51 percent. Corn condition was 3 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 41 percent fair, 42 percent good, and 5 percent excellent.

Soybeans planted was at 49 percent, compared to 96 percent last year and the 5-year average of 91 percent. Soybeans emerged was at 25 percent.

Winter wheat headed reached 93 percent, compared to 100 percent last year and the 5-year average of 98 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated at 8 percent very poor, 19 percent poor, 43 percent fair, 28 percent good, and 2 percent excellent.
