Illinois Valley Community College (IVCC) will organize an Ag Job and Internship Fair on November 2, 2026, to help students and community members explore exciting opportunities in the agriculture sector.
The event, sponsored by the college's Agriculture Department, aims to connect aspiring professionals with employers and industry experts from across the Illinois Valley region.
The fair will take place from 9 a.m. to noon in CTC 124-125 and is open to college students, local residents, and high school students who are interested in pursuing agriculture-related careers. Attendees can register in advance through the college website or complete registration at the venue.
A wide range of agriculture businesses and organizations will participate in the event. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with representatives from crop insurance companies, crop production and protection services, grain handling operations, agricultural service providers, research organizations, and greenhouse and hemp production businesses. These exhibitors will provide information about their industries, available jobs, internship opportunities, and career pathways.
Agriculture Program Co-Coordinator Willard Mott highlighted the value of the event for individuals seeking to learn more about the agriculture industry. He said, “Representatives will highlight their companies’ role in agriculture and educate visitors on the impact they could make in the industry. These national employers with local facilities show how employees can build successful careers close to home or take their experience anywhere.”
The event will also serve as an excellent networking platform. Participants will be able to meet agriculture professionals, learn about industry trends, and establish valuable connections that may benefit them in the future.
Agriculture Co-Coordinator Dr. Jennifer Timmers encouraged attendees to come prepared with resumes or business cards to make the most of the opportunity. She said, “Attendees should come prepared to ask questions. Making a connection at the event could pave a path for a future career.”
Businesses interested in promoting career opportunities and meeting potential employees will also be able to host booths at the fair. The organizers encourage interested companies to participate and engage with future agriculture professionals.
In addition to employer exhibits and networking opportunities, members of the Student Ag Ambassadors will provide guided campus tours every half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. These tours will offer visitors a chance to explore the campus and learn more about the college’s agriculture programs and facilities.
The Ag Job and Internship Fair is expected to provide valuable career insights, meaningful industry connections, and new opportunities for students and job seekers interested in the growing agriculture sector.
