Illinois State Fair Farmers Market Event Brings Deals Food and Fun

By Andi Anderson

The Illinois State Fair is partnering with the Illinois Product Farmers Market to bring visitors a special event filled with savings, entertainment, food, and family-friendly activities. The event will be held at The Shed on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield on July 30 from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event combines two popular summer attractions and gives fairgoers an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Illinois State Fair while enjoying the weekly farmers market. Visitors can take advantage of exclusive offers, explore local products, and participate in various activities designed for all ages.

“As we count down to the start of the 2026 Illinois State Fair, we’re joining forces with the Illinois Product Farmers Market to give families another opportunity to save on one of Illinois’ favorite summer traditions,” said Jerry Costello II, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

A major attraction of the event will be the availability of Illinois State Fair tickets. The Grandstand Box Office will sell concert tickets, along with passes for arena events and auto racing competitions. Visitors will also have one final opportunity to purchase Mega and Jumbo Passes before prices increase on August 1.

Families who already own a 2026 Mega or Jumbo Pass can have photos taken in advance at the Emmerson Building. Extended operating hours will help ensure pass holders are ready to enjoy carnival rides as soon as the fair opens.

Food lovers can enjoy popular fair-inspired dishes from several vendors. Food Baby will serve smash burgers and cheese curds, while Coleman’s will offer its famous Route 66 Cozy Dogs, fries, lemon shakeups, and other treats. New fair vendor Songbird Fruit will feature grilled Illinois peaches and ice cream.

Visitors can also enjoy live entertainment by Jax Dion on the Lincoln Stage. In addition, several prize packages will be available through giveaways, including Fair Food Coupon Bundles, an Illinois Beef Gift Basket, Arena Event Tickets, and Illinois Wine.

The event also allows guests to purchase beverage tickets in advance for beer tents, the Grandstand, and the Artisan Building, helping them avoid long lines during the fair.

Those interested in competitions can register for several Illinois State Fair contests, including the Baby Photo Contest, Pet Photo Contest, Amateur Talent Contest, Cutest Little Farmer Contest, Fiddle and Banjo Contest, Ponytail Contest, Decorated Diaper Contest, Diaper Derby Contest, Baton Twirling Contest, and Cheer and Dance Showcase.

The 2026 Illinois State Fair will take place from August 13 through August 23 in Springfield, offering visitors another season of entertainment, agriculture, competitions, and community celebrations.
