The University of Illinois Extension will host the Farmland Owners Conference on November 25, 2024, at Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
This one-day event is designed to assist current and future farmland owners with managing the complexities of land ownership. It aims to provide valuable insights and practical tools to help attendees make informed decisions.
The conference will feature presentations on a wide range of topics, including:
- Negotiating cash rent
- Understanding land values and appraisals
- Protecting soil fertility and your investment
- Exploring solar energy opportunities for your land
- Maintaining profits while protecting the environment
- Insurance needs for farmland
- Navigating Farm Service Agency forms and requirements
- Estate planning for farmland owners
- Organic production practices
The event is designed to help attendees strengthen relationships with farmers and tenants, manage their land effectively, and plan for the future. University and industry experts will provide guidance and answer questions during the presentations.
The registration fee is $65, which includes all presentations, refreshments, and lunch. Interested participants are encouraged to register by November 20 at go.illinois.edu/Landowner2024.
