Illinois FFA Announces 2026 Major State Officer Candidates

By Andi Anderson

The Illinois Association FFA has officially announced the ten candidates for the 2026–2027 Major State Officer Team.

The selection process took place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, under the guidance of the Illinois FFA Major State Officer Selection Committee. The committee praised the high quality and dedication of this year’s applicants.

After a detailed evaluation process, candidates were selected based on leadership ability, communication skills, agricultural knowledge, and commitment to the values of FFA.

The selected students represent multiple sections of Illinois, reflecting the strength and diversity of agricultural education across the state.

The 2026 Illinois FFA Major State Officer Candidates include Owen Rigg of the Williamsfield FFA Chapter, Tiffany Rustman of Flanagan Cornell, Abigail Hildebrand of Unity Mendon, Bryer Nelson of Canton, Collin Johnson of Franklin, Gehrig Bunselmeyer of Maroa Forsyth, Levi German of Nokomis, Lane Perry of Marshall, Haven Cash of North Clay, and Mackenna Wesseln of Pinckneyville.

These ten candidates are now eligible to be elected to one of six major officer positions. These positions include President, Vice President, Reporter, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sentinel.

Elections will be held during the 98th Annual Illinois FFA State Convention on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The convention will take place at the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield, Illinois, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Illinois FFA has also released official officer campaigning guidelines. FFA chapters, advisors, families, and supporters must use only the approved press release or required social media caption when recognizing candidates publicly. This ensures fairness, consistency, and professionalism throughout the election process.

Being named as a Major State Officer candidate is a significant achievement. It demonstrates leadership potential, dedication to agricultural education, and a strong commitment to serving fellow FFA members across Illinois.
