Darci Webber Joins Central Illinois as Natural Resources Educator

By Andi Anderson

Navigating harmonious coexistence with nature poses unique challenges, from managing landscapes to addressing invasive species. Fortunately, residents of Livingston, McLean, and Woodford counties now have a resource to turn to for guidance — Darci Webber, the newly appointed natural resources, environment, and energy educator with University of Illinois Extension.

With a commitment to providing research-based solutions, Webber aims to empower communities in Central Illinois to engage with their natural surroundings sustainably. Her role encompasses facilitating environmental education and outreach efforts, coordinating land stewardship initiatives, and leveraging resources like the Illinois Extension Master Naturalist program.

County Director Katie Buckley expresses excitement for the positive impact Webber will bring to the region. Through culturally relevant programming and collaborative efforts, Webber endeavors to inspire residents to deepen their understanding of environmental systems and take proactive steps towards conservation.

Webber's academic background, including a Bachelor of Science in environmental biology and a master’s in international agriculture, equips her with a diverse skill set to tackle complex environmental issues. Her experience in data collection, pest management, and farm-based education further enhances her ability to address the unique challenges faced by Central Illinois communities.

Driven by a passion for environmental stewardship, Webber seeks to instill a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the Earth among residents. By fostering connections with nature, she hopes to cultivate a community dedicated to preserving and enhancing the natural world.

Residents are encouraged to engage with Darci Webber and University of Illinois Extension to explore sustainable solutions for environmental challenges. Together, they embark on a journey towards a greener, healthier future.
