The Alpha Tau Chapter of Western Illinois University's Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR) Fraternity will host its 30th annual Smokin' Hog philanthropy event Oct. 29 at the fraternity house, located at 1010 N. Lafayette St. in Macomb.
The annual, family-friendly event raises money, which is distributed back to community organizations. Last year the event raised $20,000, and a $30,000 goal has been set for this year to commemorate the event's 30th anniversary.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. A concert will also be held that evening. Meals include a pulled pork sandwich, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, baked beans, dessert and a drink.
Tickets for the meals, $8 each prior to the event, or $10 the day of the event, are available from any AGR committee member, or by visiting agr.crowdchange.co/27988. Items, such as t-shirts, koozies and tickets to the evening concert will also be sold during the event.
The organization will offer a drive-thru-style meal, as well as a traditional, sit-down dining option available inside the fraternity house.
Event organizers continue to look for sponsors, and additional information is available on AGR's Facebook page.
