82 Percent of Illinois Wheat Rates Good to Excellent



Statewide in Illinois, the average temperature was 33.8 degrees, 4.3 degrees above normal, according to USDA's National Ag Statistics Service.

Precipitation averaged 2.46 inches, 0.49 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 8 percent short, 65 percent adequate, and 26 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent very short, 11 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 19 percent surplus.

Winter wheat condition was 1 percent poor, 17 percent fair, 72 percent good, and 10 percent excellent.
