Wabash Valley College Wins Illinois Farm Bureau Award

By Andi Anderson

Wabash Valley College has been named the Outstanding Collegiate Farm Bureau Chapter by the Illinois Farm Bureau for the 2023-2024 academic year. This prestigious award recognizes the college's exceptional dedication to advancing agricultural education and fostering community engagement.

Throughout the academic year, Wabash Valley Collegiate Farm Bureau demonstrated remarkable initiative and commitment to their mission and goals. They achieved success in various endeavors, including the establishment of a memorial tribute for a former member, which exemplifies their deep sense of community and remembrance.

Moreover, the college saw significant growth in chapter membership and community involvement. Their participation in events like the Olney Christmas Parade and the creation of an educational video addressing agricultural misconceptions underscored their proactive approach to engaging the public and promoting agricultural awareness.

Wabash Valley Collegiate Farm Bureau's impact extends beyond their campus, as they maintain strong partnerships with local county Farm Bureaus and actively participate in regional events and programming. Their involvement at both the local and state levels, including attendance at conferences like the Young Leader Conference and IAA Annual Meeting, reflects their dedication to advancing agriculture at all levels.

The recognition from the Illinois Farm Bureau is a testament to Wabash Valley College's exceptional commitment to agricultural education and community service. Their efforts have not only enriched the college experience for students but have also made a meaningful impact on the broader agricultural community.

As Wabash Valley Collegiate Farm Bureau prepares to be formally honored at the IAA Annual Meeting in December, their achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring agricultural leaders across the state.
