Supporting Ag in the Classroom

Supporting Ag in the Classroom

By Andi Anderson

Generosity overflowed at the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting, where the IAA Foundation orchestrated fundraising events that set a new bar, raising a remarkable $60,000. These proceeds are dedicated to the vital support of agriculture education through various channels like Illinois Ag in the Classroom, student scholarships, grants, and more.

The "All In for Ag" campaign soared, with bids during the live auction reaching an impressive $18,325, a generous 328% of their initial value. Among the star attractions was the Prairie Farms Dairy's coveted "Ice Cream for a Year," garnering significant attention and ultimately fetching $2,200 after being purchased and redonated for a second round of bidding. The ice cream social and live auction paddle raise contributed over $2,500 in free-will donations, facilitated by benevolent ice cream scoopers serving ample portions.

The event culminated in the heartwarming adoption of stuffed horses donning IFB t-shirts, orchestrated by FFA state officers, marking the conclusion of the IAA Foundation's Adopt-an-Animal series spanning five years.

The online auction segment, featuring 160 items, exceeded expectations by raising $22,324, surpassing the $16,000 goal. Attendees had the chance to explore auction items in person before engaging in the online platform, where nearly 250 members participated from the comfort of their homes, creating an inclusive hybrid experience.

Sponsor support, totaling $19,500, diligently covered event expenses, ensuring that every dollar raised directly serves the Foundation's mission, underscoring a resounding success in fostering agricultural education and advancement.
