Illinois farmer Lance Moritz, based in Streator, earns national acclaim as a finalist for the prestigious American Star Award in Agricultural Placement by the National FFA. The accolade highlights Moritz's outstanding agricultural skills developed through a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program.

Engaging with the Streator FFA since eighth grade, Moritz's agricultural journey began with hands-on experiences alongside his father on the family farm. Now 21, Moritz, a fourth-generation farmer, reflects on his top-four national recognition with enthusiasm. Despite health challenges at 19, including a kidney transplant, Moritz continued his commitment to the family business and studies at Illinois Valley Community College.

Moritz's SAE during high school focused on farm work, fostering a passion for hands-on activities like planting and harvesting. Beyond bookkeeping, Moritz contributes to crucial decisions about equipment, pricing, and marketing. His dedication to the family legacy and the agricultural community is evident.

As an American Star Award finalist, Lance Moritz stands as a testament to the resilience and dedication of Illinois farmers. His journey reflects the spirit of agricultural excellence celebrated on the national stage.
