Connect and Learn at the Southern Illinois Farming Alliance Conference

By Andi Anderson

Get ready, Southern Illinois farmers! The annual Southern Illinois Farming Alliance Conference (SIFA) is back on January 27, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at John A. Logan College. This year's event promises a jam-packed day of learning, connecting, and building community for those passionate about organic, regenerative, and entrepreneurial farming.

Mark your calendars for this chance to:

  • Connect with over 20 organizations: Midwest GRIT, University of Illinois Extension, Illinois Stewardship Alliance, American Farmland Trust, and more, offering resources and support tailored to your needs.
  • Learn from leading experts: Keynote speaker Dr. Trent Ford, Illinois State Climatologist, will delve into climate change impacts for local farmers. Guest speakers will address key topics like land access with Farmlink and agroforestry with the Savannah Institute.
  • Network with fellow growers: Share experiences, build relationships, and find inspiration from other passionate farmers in the region.
  • Enjoy a full day of support: Breakfast, lunch, and beverages will be provided, along with a refundable $20 registration fee and small stipends for traveling farmers.

Whether you're a seasoned farmer or just starting your agricultural journey, the SIFA Conference offers something for everyone. It's a chance to learn new skills, find solutions to challenges, and connect with a supportive community of like-minded individuals.
