Clinton County Extension Foundation Empowers 4-H Youth with $8,000 in Scholarships

The Clinton County Extension Foundation has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting local 4-H youth by awarding seven deserving recipients with college scholarships. This year's recipients have showcased remarkable dedication, leadership, and academic achievement throughout their 4-H journey.
Nicole Hagen, a graduate of Central Comm. High School, stood out for her involvement in extracurricular activities such as golf, band, Future Business Leaders of America, and the National Honor Society. Nicole's passion for International Business led her to Illinois State University, where she plans to major in accounting.
Melanie Hilmes, a graduate of Central High School, is pursuing her dreams of becoming a middle school educator at Murray State University. With a passion for sports, outdoor activities, reading, and sewing, Melanie's commitment to learning and community shines through.
Zachary Thole, a Breese native, has demonstrated his dedication to community service as a member of St. Rose Clover Crew and Clinton County Teen Leaders of Tomorrow. Currently studying at Kaskaskia College, Zachary aims to pursue a computer science degree at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Kierstan Lampe, a 2023 graduate of Central Community High School, is heavily involved in 4-H and FFA. She will embark on her journey to Iowa State University to study Animal Science, driven by her love for agriculture and animal welfare.
Shana Lueking, a junior at Murray State University, is pursuing Agribusiness with a focus on marketing and management. Engaged in collegiate 4-H and FFA programs, Shana also contributes to the Student Government Association and Sigma Alpha, a professional agriculture sorority.
Blake Twenhafel, a recent Wesclin High School graduate, plans to attend Kaskaskia College before pursuing a crop sciences degree. Blake's dedication to 4-H and FFA, along with his leadership role as the Illinois FFA Section 22 President, showcases his passion for agriculture.
Lauren Wolter, an active 4-H member for 13 years, has achieved outstanding success in livestock-related activities and contests. Set to study Animal Science at Kansas State University, Lauren will also participate in the esteemed meat judging team.
These scholarships not only recognize academic excellence but also celebrate the exemplary leadership and community involvement displayed by these exceptional 4-H youth. The Clinton County Extension Foundation's commitment to empowering young individuals sets them on a path towards success and fosters a lifelong love for agriculture.
