96 Percent of Illinois Winter Wheat Emerged

There were 5.6 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sunday.

The average temperature across the state was 44.8 degrees, 3.6 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.69 inches, 0.04 inches above normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 11 percent very short, 17 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 11 percent very short, 25 percent short, 63 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.

Winter wheat emerged was at 96 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 91 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 4 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 19 percent excellent.
