Illinois State Fair Ribbon Cutting Thursday
Illinois Ag Connection - 08/10/2017
Join Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Raymond Poe and other state and local dignitaries as they gather to official mark the opening of the 2017 Illinois State Fair.
New this year, the ribbon cutting has been moved to the first Thursday (Preview Day) of the fair. At the conclusion of the ribbon cutting at the Main Gate, the Director will travel to the Department of Agriculture tent for a tour and a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Following the ceremonial ribbon cutting, many dignitaries will travel to Lincoln Park on Springfield's north end for the start of the annual Twilight Parade. The parade will step-off from the southeast corner of the Nelson Park loop and travel north to Sangamon
Avenue. From there, it will travel east down Sangamon Avenue into the Main Gate of the fairgrounds and proceed on to the Grandstand.
Fairgoers are invited to attend a free concert in the Grandstand following the Twilight Parade.
The classic rock group Foghat will perform a free concert in the Grandstand following the Twilight Parade.
No concert tickets are needed for this performance.
