Illinois Pork to Host Inaugural Youth Day
Illinois Ag Connection - 02/13/2019

Youth, ages 8-18 years of age, are invited to attend a free event geared towards the pork industry. The Illinois Pork Producers Association Youth and Education Committee has planned a full day's worth of industry speakers, a skill-a-thon, and a complimentary lunch.

The event takes place in the Livestock Center at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Feb. 16. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. with the program starting at 9:30. An optional Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) training will be available at the conclusion of the event. Parents are welcome to attend with their children.

Thanks to the generosity of IPPA and Pro-Fit Supply, each participant will receive a free pig whip and 8 oz bottle of "Pre Show" just for attending! Other speakers include: Lindner Show Feeds, Zoetis, Angie Krieger and Todd Rodibaugh from National Pork Board, and a career panel of professionals from across the industry.

Families are encouraged to spend the day together learning about swine, the pork industry in Illinois, and career opportunities in their future. Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins are certainly welcome. A full schedule and registration link can be found at ilpork.com.

Sponsors for the event include: (Gold) Lindner Show Feeds and Zoetis; (Silver) Farm Credit Illinois, Early Bird Nutrition, Pro-Fit Supply, Show Rite, Sunglo, and The Maschhoffs; (Bronze) The Equity.
