Illinois Ag Connection - 10/10/2018

Western Illinois University's Performing Arts Society (PAS) will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its annual Beerfest event from noon-5 p.m. Oct. 13 at The Forum in downtown Macomb.

This year's event will feature a VIP $40 wristband, which includes flat rate sampling, access to VIP gourmet brats and sides and bourbon tasting. Alternatively, guests can pay a $10 admission fee, then buy $1 beer tickets for sampling.

Beerfest will have over 50 craft beers for sampling, and local breweries include the Iron Spike, of Galesburg, IL; Front Street, of Davenport, IA; V's, of Keokuk, IA; and Forgottonia Brewing, coming soon to Macomb.

Funds raised through Beerfest benefit:

- Youth Performing Arts Series -- More than 7,000 area school children attend free, live educational, performing arts shows. PAS pays all expenses to bus the students, teachers and chaperones to these live performances.

- Summer Music Institute -- PAS provides $7,000 in scholarships to the Summer Music Institute Jr. High and High School summer camps.

- Community Arts Grant - PAS has a new grant that benefits local artists. Every six months, PAS will support an arts initiative that impacts the community.

- WIU Arts Grant - PAS supports arts projects created by WIU staff or faculty.

Sponsors include The Forum, Jimmy Johns, the Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tri States Public Radio, Regional Media and Hy-Vee. Regional Media will be doing a live remote at the event. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
