Illinois Corn and Soybean Harvest Pace On Target

There were 4.7 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sunday. Statewide, the average temperature was 68.1 degrees, 9.7 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.55 inches, 0.81 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent very short, 7 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 13 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 3 percent very short, 12 percent short, 79 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus.

Corn harvested was at 63 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 41 percent.

Soybeans dropping leaves was at 93 percent, compared to 89 percent last year. Soybean harvest was 51 percent complete, compared to 49 percent last year. Soybean condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 14 percent fair, 47 percent good, and 33 percent excellent.

Sorghum mature reached 91 percent, compared to 86 percent last year. Sorghum harvested was at 54 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 39 percent. Sorghum condition was rated at 6 percent poor, 21 percent fair, 58 percent good, and 15 percent excellent.

Winter wheat planted was at 22 percent, compared to 27 percent last year. Winter wheat emerged was at 3 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 4 percent.
