World Dairy Expo to Kick-Off Next Week in Madison
USAgNet - 09/25/2018

The dairy industry's next frontier will be discovered in Madison next week as World Dairy Expo kicks-off October 2-6. Organizers say it's the place for world-class competition among the country's top dairy breeders, with seven national and international breed shows and six breed sales held on the grounds. About 2,000 head of dairy cattle are expected to parade across the colored shavings.

Meanwhile, hundreds of exhibit booths have been registered for the trade show this year. Attendees can look forward to a full spectrum of dairy-focused technology, products and services up and down every aisle. And producers can take advantage of free education seminars on dairy management and other industry issues. These programs offer Expo visitors technical expertise to stay knowledgeable, competitive and profitable.

Virtual farm tour programs will once again be available to offer the chance to explore a variety of dairy operations from around the continent without leaving World Dairy Expo. The half-hour visual presentations by producers offer a virtual learning experience right on the grounds.

World Dairy Expo's Dinner with the Stars will be held on Wednesday evening. Five individuals will be recognized for their lifetime of service to the dairy industry, including Wisconsin's Pete Kappelman of Two Rivers, who will be honored as Dairyman of the Year, while Dr. Dan Hornickel and Dr. Chris Keim, Whitewater, share the designation of Industry Persons of the Year.

Hours for World Dairy Expo are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Daily admission is $12 per person and season passes are $35. Parking is free.
