U.S. May Tractor Sales Up Slightly, Combines Down

The Association of Equipment Manufacturer's monthly "Flash Report" notes that the sale of all tractors in the U.S. in 2018, were up 1% in May compared to 2018.

For the year, a total of 102,921 tractors were sold which compares to 96,722 sold in 2018 representing an 6% increase for the year, reports Farm Equipment magazine.

For the month of May, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) were even compared to last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were up 3%. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP were up 9%, while 4-wheel drive tractors were up 2%.

For the year, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) are up 9% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP are even. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP are up 4%, while 4-wheel drive tractors are up 22%.

Combine sales were down 13% for the month. Sales of combines for the year totaled 1,744 compared to 1,547 in 2018, a 13% increase.
